The global workplace is shifting and more entrepreneurs are choosing to forge their own flexible career path. Historically, this has come with an element of risk. The sharing economy is changing that, as businesses like Uber introduce solutions to help the flexible network of driver-partners that use the app to flourish. Also the attitude of Nigerians to insurance is one that is generally negative. It is often overlooked and can be deemed unnecessary. Vehicle owners barely worry about insurance for themselves let alone drivers.
However, Uber will be partnering with AXA Mansard Insurance to provide insurance cover against death, permanent, total or partial disabilities, medical and funeral expenses to riders during any trip with Uber in Nigeria.
The insurance cover also protects Uber driver-partners and riders against damage to third-party property that may occur while they carry out their Uber App-initiated activities.
Uber prioritises safety for both riders and driver-partners and while insurance has always been a critical part of Uber’s safety programme, Uber has amplified the offering with a coverage designed specifically for Nigerians.
Uber is committed to the safety of the riders and driver-partners in Nigeria and through the collaboration with AXA Mansard, Uber will now be able to provide an even more reliable journey during every trip on the platform.
